Mohegan Tribe Welcomes Connecticut DCP Commissioner for Tour of First Medication Pickup Lockers in Connecticut

Last week, the Mohegan Tribe welcomed Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Bryan Cafferelli and his team to the Mohegan Reservation for a visit and tour of Mohegan Pharmacy and newly installed medication pickup lockers.

These new medication pickup lockers are the first of their kind in Connecticut. The lockers are designed to improve access for medications through secure, 24-hour pickup for Tribal members and Mohegan employees.

This innovative approach allows Mohegan Pharmacy patients, particularly those with demanding work schedules, to conveniently retrieve prescriptions outside of pharmacy business hours, including late nights and holidays.

“This is about meeting people where they are and making healthcare more accessible in a way that fits their daily lives,” said James Gessner, Jr. Chairman of the Mohegan Tribe. “These medication pickup lockers are a simple, but impactful solution that removes barriers for our Tribal members and employees, and reflect our continued commitment to innovative, community-focused care.”

"Medication pickup lockers provide secure, 24-hour access to medications, reducing barriers to care for individuals and families who may not be able to pick up their prescriptions during regular business hours," said DCP Commissioner Bryan T. Cafferelli. "DCP is committed to helping Connecticut families across the state with safe, easy access to healthcare, including their medications. Pharmacies throughout Connecticut have the opportunity to install lockers for after-hours prescription pickups in compliance with our pharmacy regulations, and we are proud to support these additions as more pharmacies look to increase access in their communities, particularly in rural areas."
