Preston River Walk Project

Preston Riverwalk Project

The Preston Riverwalk Project will be a non-gaming destination with outdoor and indoor attractions, hotel and retail space, restaurants, housing, a marina, RV Park and more.

Over the course of the past two decades, the Mohegan Tribe and various others have expressed interest in the vacant Norwich Hospital property across the Thames River from Mohegan Sun. In May 2016, we reached an historic agreement with the Preston Redevelopment Agency to purchase and develop this 393-acre riverfront site after cleanup is complete. By spearheading its development, we are investing in the local community and bringing hundreds of permanent jobs into the region, solidifying southeastern Connecticut as a top tourism destination.

The Preston Riverwalk Project will be a non-gaming destination and is planned to include outdoor and indoor attractions, hotel and retail space, restaurants, housing, a marina, RV Park and more.

This parcel is of historical significance to the Mohegan Tribe, as it is adjacent to Brewster’s Neck Cemetery and land on which Jonathan Brewster established a trading post hundreds of years ago. This land was granted to Brewster by his friend and key trading partner Uncas. We are honored to pay reverence to our ancestors in bringing this land back into our family.
