The Mohegan Tribe is proud of all our talented Indigenous athletes as they represent a small, but growing segment of total sports athletes nationwide. This February 5th, please join us in celebrating the 39th annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD).
This national campaign, powered by the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF), began in 1987 as a special day to recognize women’s sports. According to the WSF, the day will bring national attention to the promise of girls and women in sports.
WSF says, “This celebration inspires girls and women to play and be active, to realize their full power. The confidence, strength, and character gained through sports participation are the very tools girls and women need to become strong leaders in sports and life.”
This year, we highlight some of the many female Mohegan athletes and their accomplishments whether it's on the court, pitch, the match, or somewhere else.
