Mohegan Tribal Paramedics Train in Rapid Sequence Intubation

On Mon., May 12, 2025, the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department’s Paramedics attended a training program on rapid sequence intubation at Hartford Healthcare’s Center for Education, Simulation, and Innovation in Hartford. This program consisted of a lecture, skills practice on various advanced airway techniques, and team exercises using patient simulation mannequins experiencing various medical and traumatic emergencies. The patients required assessment and management with medications to sedate and paralyze, intubation, and post-care.  Within the next few months, our Paramedics will be able to provide this new skill under the oversight of our medical director and Backus Hospital medical control.
