Mohegan Tribal Fire Department Receives Assistance to Firefighter Grant Award from FEMA

On Jul. 15, 2024, the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department was selected to receive an Assistance to Firefighters Grant award from the Department of Homeland Security (FEMA).  The funding will be used to purchase a new thermal imaging camera for the primary fire engine, a washer/extractor to clean firefighting protective gear, two new self-contained breathing apparatus, 16 sets of firefighter turnout gear, and 36 rescue bail-out systems for all firefighters. This equipment will enhance the safety and performance of all the firefighters/EMTs.  The Department extends its thanks to FEMA, the Tribal Council, the Tribal Self Governance/Grants Department, and MTFD's administrative staff for all the work that went into securing this grant.
