About Kristen

Kristen Blore has spent more than two decades helping middle school students discover that history is more than a list of dates; it is a collection of human stories that shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us. Since 1999, she has taught with the belief that learning happens best when students feel seen, valued, and genuinely connected to their classroom community. For the past 17 years, Blore has taught eighth-grade social studies at Tolland Middle School, while also contributing to the school and district SEL committees, helping shape Advisory experiences that support students’ well-being and sense of belonging.

Blore’s classroom is built on curiosity and care. Students explore the past through hands-on artifacts, primary sources, and inquiry-based learning that invites them to think like historians and ask meaningful questions. Whether handling a cypher disk or examining a 19th‑century medical tool, students are encouraged to make personal connections to history and reflect on why it matters today.

Beyond academics, she is deeply committed to nurturing the whole child, and she supports students in understanding how their brains work, managing stress, and developing empathy and resilience. Through advisory and community projects, she helps students find their voices and recognize their ability to make a difference. Blore believes the most powerful moments in education are often quiet ones, built through trust, relationships, and showing up, day after day, with intention and heart.
