About Jane

Jane Sarnowski is a sixth-grade English Language Arts teacher committed to creating meaningful, student-centered learning experiences that empower young adolescents to think critically and engage with the world around them. She emphasizes literacy as a foundation for both academic growth and human understanding. Sarnowski holds a B.A. in Mass Communications and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Quinnipiac University, along with a Sixth-Year certification in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University. As a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA) whose first language is American Sign Language, she brings a unique perspective to her classroom, fostering inclusive communication, connection, empathy, and respect for diverse voices and experiences.

She designs learning experiences that challenge students to ask meaningful questions and make connections beyond the classroom. Sarnowski has been instrumental in developing interdisciplinary Holocaust education initiatives, where students explore identity, resilience, social responsibility, and the consequences of injustice. Through grant writing and partnerships with educational organizations, she has expanded access to authentic, transformative learning opportunities.

Recognized for her collaborative approach and commitment to continuous growth, Sarnowski supports both her colleagues and the school community. She strives to cultivate a classroom where students feel valued and empowered, developing strong literacy skills alongside the empathy and awareness needed to navigate and shape an increasingly complex world.
