About Deisha

Deisha Quiñones is a first-grade dual-language teacher at the Regional Multicultural Magnet School (RMMS) and a proud alum of the same school. Growing up in a family of educators, she developed a deep appreciation for teaching early on. Her journey from student to teacher reflects her strong connection to the RMMS community and its commitment to equity, cultural diversity, and lifelong learning.

Through the Dual Language Program, Quiñones helps students build strong academic skills in English and Spanish while fostering confidence, empathy, and a love of learning. She emphasizes bilingualism as a valuable strength that connects students to the world around them. Quiñones earned her B.A. in Psychology from Quinnipiac University in 2018 and later gained her teaching certification through the Connecticut Teacher Residency Program.

Beyond teaching, Quiñones is actively involved in leadership committees and after-school programs. She continues her professional growth through advanced coursework and graduate studies, working toward TESOL, bilingual, and special education cross-endorsements. She remains committed to inclusive, culturally responsive teaching and believes every child deserves to feel valued and supported.

In her free time, Quiñones loves traveling and spending time with her family, friends, and her dog, Lola. She is a proud Latina and appreciates everything about her Puerto Rican heritage. She always encourages her students to be proud of their culture as well.
