Employee Reviews

Since I began working for the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department, it has been stressed that the most important part of our shift, other than running emergency calls, is training. The training afforded to us by our officers is unmatched and prepares us for any incident that we may encounter daily. This department also prepares us well, not only to protect the reservation and surrounding community but also the greater southeastern region of Connecticut. There is special emphasis on the small details, and how these all play a part in the bigger picture. I feel extremely confident going into any incident based on the training and education I have received as part of this department and do not believe that I would be the responder I am today without working here. It is also extremely evident that our administration is confident in our abilities, and allowing us to perform mission-specific training such as the window washer rescue training and the blind shaft elevator rescue training within the last year.

I enjoy working for the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department for many reasons, but most importantly, we have a great staff that works very well together. We accomplish a lot in our days at work. We are here for 24 hours at a time. The hours tend to go by quickly, and we get a lot done. We spend a lot of time together and grow as a team and a family. Between calls, we train, inspect, and prevent accidents from happening, and when they do happen, we react. In this line of work, we get to interact with so many people from employees, to patrons, to stars, and community members. We enjoy the time we have at work to be able to enjoy our days at home. Some nights, we get to sleep and others we stay up together. No matter the job, we make it happen and make some great meals to end our days with. It's not just the place we get to work but the people we get to work with that make every day a great day at the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department.

After spending an entire career at another department and being given the opportunity to work for the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department, I would have to say I made a great choice. Through training and unique on-the-job experiences, I have significantly expanded my knowledge and skills as a firefighter. I am always proud to say I work for the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department.
