About Melissa
To Melissa Batulevitz, teaching isn’t a career; it’s a calling. She believes that teaching is a profoundly rewarding endeavor that allows her to nurture both the minds and the dreams of her students. She feels that the beauty of education lies in the transformative power it holds, as teachers have the privilege to inspire and shape the aspirations of their students. Over the past sixteen years, Melissa has worked to develop her knowledge and skills as an educator to ensure she can impact her students and colleagues in the most meaningful ways possible.
Melissa’s proudest accomplishment is that of serving as the Director of “The Write Space,” a student-led writing center. At the core of her teaching philosophy, Melissa believes in the importance of building a sense of community and helping students find their voice. The writing center accomplishes both of these objectives as it provides a safe space where students can share their unique challenges, perspectives, talents, and passions while building meaningful relationships with their peers. Melissa believes this unique experience provides students with the opportunity to nurture both their academic and personal development as they become engaged and confident learners capable of successfully navigating our ever-changing world.
