About Marco

Marco Cenabre was born and raised in New Haven, a proud graduate and teacher in New Haven Public Schools, and is beyond grateful to be named the district's 2024 Teacher of the Year. As a teacher, Marco aims to design curriculum and facilitate student experiences that build consciousness, empathy, and human connection as he pushes students to be critical thinkers, readers, and writers. He is an advocate for mental health awareness and social-emotional learning and undergirds the academic experience through therapeutic practice. Outside the classroom, Marco is passionate about professional development for teachers. He is a Teacher-Organizer for the Anti-Racist Teaching and Learning Collective. He has led multiple professional developments for teachers, including The Anti-Racist Teachers Institute, the first-ever long-term PD centered on culturally sustaining and anti-racist pedagogy in the history of the district, as well as three summer conferences each with over 150 teachers in attendance. In his spare time, Marco loves spending time with his partner Paula, his family and friends, and finally, his persevering and unrelentingly profound cat, Cloud Coppola.
