About Sean

Sean Serafino has been a classroom teacher at Monroe Elementary School for 20 years where he started as a student teacher/intern. In addition to teaching 3rd grade, he serves as his school’s Technology Integrator and Science Coach. In 2016, Serafino received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) for elementary science at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., and is the current state science coordinator for the PAEMST award. 

Outside the classroom, Serafino is passionate about supporting the next generation of elementary teachers. He has also worked as an adjunct professor at his alma mater, Sacred Heart University, for 10 years. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses for elementary teachers revolving around math and science topics. He also serves as the Communications Director for the Connecticut Science Teachers Association (CSTA).  

Serafino enjoys spending time with his wife Caroline, daughter Casey, and Maltipoo Eli. He loves watching the Yankees and spending his summers down at the Jersey Shore.
