About Rachel

Dr. Rachel Riendeau is a social studies instructor and General Education (humanities) department head at Windham Technical High School in Willimantic, CT; a part of the seventeen-high school CT Technical Education and Career System (CTECS). Riendeau is passionate about creating meaningful and engaging learning experiences that inspire students to think critically, ask questions, and connect classroom content to the real world. She has taught social studies for nineteen years and is continually energized by the growth and curiosity she sees in her students daily. 

Riendeau holds an Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of South Carolina, a master's in teaching (MAT) from Sacred Heart University, and a bachelor of arts (BA) in Public Policy from Eastern Connecticut State University. She regularly seeks opportunities to grow as a professional through collaboration, curriculum development, and integrating innovative practices. 

Beyond the classroom, Riendeau enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage sons and is committed to supporting her local community. She serves on her local Board of Education, volunteers at her local school to support the arts, and has served as a teacher-leader for multiple professional organizations throughout the US. Riendeau believes that education is a powerful tool for change, and she strives to empower her students not just academically, but as thoughtful members of their communities.
