Jennifer Stanish was chosen as West Hartford’s Teacher of the Year, 2019-2020, and a semi-finalist for CT State Teacher of the Year, 2020. She has taught at Wolcott School since August of 1999. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in music from the Hartt School, and went on to pursue her teaching certificate and Master’s Degree at Central Connecticut State University, where she graduated with high honors.
Jennifer serves on the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee, the district’s Professional Learning and Evaluation Committee, and volunteers her time whenever needed. At her school, she is a member of the Safe School Climate Committee, Leadership Team, and facilitates and plans professional development for teachers and colleagues.
Jennifer prides herself on being the kind of teacher she would want her own children to have, builds strong relationships, and strives for excellence every day. Jennifer is also a vocalist, musician, and performer. She has been a guest storyteller with Speak Up, and enjoys singing locally in different venues. Jennifer enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, the beach, and is an avid baseball and tennis fan! She resides with her husband, two children, and her rescue pets; two cats and a retired racing greyhound.
