Jennifer Duell is a ninth-year science teacher at Maloney High School in Meriden, CT.
Jen has been a driving force for Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) alignment and integration across Connecticut since her second year of teaching. Within Meriden Public Schools, Jen has designed and implemented curricula for over seven MS and HS courses.
As a member of the Meriden Public Schools’ Equity Leadership Team, she has been a driving force for racial equity and social justice in Meriden, and is currently working to engage teachers from other districts in similar work. Jen is the professional learning coordinator for the Quinnipiac University Advancing Diversity in Science (QUADS) grant (ConnCAP, OHE).
In this work, Jen facilitates diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) professional learning opportunities for teachers throughout districts in DRGs G, H and I.
While Jen has facilitated pedagogical and ethics professional development in districts from PA to CT, her true passion is in elevating each and every student within her classroom. Jen sees every individual as integral members of a larger community, with value to add. Her belief is that culture, language and life experiences are assets to be treasured and venerated, and through these assets our communities are richer and stronger.
