Learn More About Emily

Emily Lisy is a science teacher and program chair at The Morgan School in Clinton, CT. During her seventeen years teaching, she has taught many biology, anatomy, and UConn ECE (Early College Experience) courses. Her passion in life has always science and the environment and she always wanted a related career.

As a Penn State Goddard Fellow, she helped plan and run conferences on environmental issues for scientists, politicians, legislators, and educators with the goal of bringing together all stakeholders to help solve environmental problems. The end result of those conferences and the solution that was repeatedly given was that we needed to educate people at a younger age. She went into education with the goal of inspiring students to like science, think like scientists, and to educate them on the importance of protecting our environment.

Emily likes to get students involved in the community with science research projects. She has developed many authentic learning experiences for her students and finds that it is these real world experiences that help inspire students to follow their dreams – no matter where they come from or who they are. It makes science accessible to all regardless of gender, parent’s level of education, or socioeconomic background. Emily has a B.S. and M.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Science and a minor in Marine Science from Penn State University.
